Gloria Chae

Piano Instructor, Group Piano Class

Born in Miami, Florida Gloria Chae is an avid performer, pianist, and pedagogue. She received her B.M. in Piano Performance at the Florida State University and a Certificate in Piano Pedagogy. Chae has won top prizes in the Gulf Coast Steinway Society Music Competition in Mobile, Alabama and the Annual Competitive Festival Competition in Tallahassee, Florida. Gloria’s teachers include Dr. Stijn De Cock, Liera Antropova, and Dr. Hanna Cyba.

Currently, Chae is pursuing her M.M. in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Houston under the tutelage of Dr. Tali Morgulis and Dr. Todd Van Kekerix. She holds a teaching assistantship as a group piano instructor for undergraduate music and non-music majors. Chae is also an instructor at the Community Arts Academy at the University of Houston teaching private and group classes focusing on theory, composition, and aural skills. 

Chae’s passion for teaching started at a young age. In high school, she taught children in her neighborhood. During her undergraduate studies, she was an instructor at the Masons School of Music, Dance, and Arts After School in Tallahassee, Florida. Chae taught students from ages 3 to adult as well as students with special needs. 

As a pedagogue, Chae strives to make sure each student receives their music education with a positive and encouraging environment. She highlights the importance of a strong foundation and musical skill set and caters towards each student’s individual needs. With the power of the piano, Chae’s goal is to guide her students’ musical journey to attain a well-rounded musical education with enthusiasm. She is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association.
