A partner of St. Andrew’s based in Terrier Rouge, Haiti
Since 1979, St. Andrew’s has partnered with Father Bruno, a Haitian Episcopal priest, to bring the light and love of Jesus Christ to the people of Haiti, the poorest country in our hemisphere. The focus of Bethlehem Ministry is to to support his most recent school. The St. Barthélémy School in northeastern Haiti, now with 961 students, is a state of the art Montessori school that is totally solar powered.
The children are taught in French and are using laptop computers. The school has given this community of 35,000 people in Terrier Rouge a sense of hope and pride, and the adult education literacy program is now in its third year. Just $300/yr. provides a uniform, healthcare, books and a hot meal daily for each student, that for many of the children will be the only meal they get. If you would like to support a new child or renew an existing scholarship, simply fill out the form below, or you may also turn in a check to the church office. New sponsors will receive family information with a picture of their child. For more information about sponsoring a child, contact Rich Wheeler at [email protected] or 832-687-7009. ]
The affiliated Jatropha Project (http://www.peopleandplace.org/jp-jatrofa-projenou/) is working to create economic opportunity in rural NE Haiti through sustainable agricultural projects including Jatropha seed oil, renewable wood, and goat production.
To find out more, contact Rich Wheeler. He and his wife Janet visit Haiti regularly and have extensive knowledge about (and deep love for) everything Bethlehem Ministry is doing there.
