** Our Coffee House Live @ St. Andrew's concert series wrapped up its 10th anniversary season on 11/02/2023, and is now on an indefinite hiatus/break.  Farewell, for now, Houston.  Thank you for being a part of a great 10 years.  Check in here and/or on our Facebook page from time to time to watch for any updates to this status. **

** Thank You Letter to YOU, Houston **

(a personal note from your Coffee House curators -- Pete & Donna -- regarding wrapping up 2023, our 10th season)
Ladies and gentlemen, we love you 🙂  We appreciate you beyond words 🙂  To say we were nervous on the day of the first Coffee House in 2013 is a huge understatement! We were sweating bullets. Would anyone come to the show? Would we be able to put together an evening of live music connection as we envisioned? Ten years later, we can say it has worked out better than our wildest dreams. You have made the program all that it has become through your good will, your attendance, your donations and your word-of-mouth promotion about the shows that you were excited about seeing.  We simply love live music, and the way it lifts our spirits, regularly.  We simply had a vision to share that with many of you (some already knew, others were new to the power of live music).  For fun in our tenth anniversary year, we have looked back and taken stock of what has been produced:  50+ Shows ... 140+ Artists ... 10,000+ Attendees ... 7,500+ Cups of Coffee served ... 5,500+ Cookies served ... 7 KPFT Interviews ... 5 Chronicle write-ups (and countless mentions) ...  As we approach September’s show this fall with Sara Hickman, we are excited! The summer heat will be winding down, even in Texas, as we start to point towards fall. A change of season is always welcome. It provides a time for something that exists to wind down and something new to begin. That is a big theme for us right now as we close out a very special year. We feel proud of hosting the program for ten years. We want to close out this year with a special show. And so, to express our sincere gratitude for your patronage for these ten years, we can now announce that our special 10th anniversary year-ending show will be the one-and-only Alejandro Escovedo and band, November 02, 2023!  We're really looking forward to seeing you all for this one.  We’ve been asked about the 2024 line-up. As we approached the tenth-year anniversary, we wondered if we would be able to make the milestone given the state of the world at the time. And, we did -- with what we think was our greatest year of music/artists to date!  And continued/awesome support from you.  Now that we have been blessed with this milestone, we asked ourselves the big question - when we should plan to wind down the program. Our goal is ensuring it doesn’t turn stale and lose its following. We’ve all seen programs that aren’t well planned and fall apart slowly over time or fade away. We don’t want Coffee House Live to end that way. The ending we liked best was going out with a big finish. We are sure the program would not remain at the level it is now for another ten years. With many factors in mind, we decided to close out our Coffee House Live program with our last show of this year.  Thank you, Houston.  For 10 amazing years.  YOUR SUPPORT made this possible.  We will be sad to see it end. We look forward to seeing all of you in the audience as we wrap up 2023!  This is our grateful Farewell For Now message.  Who knows what the future will hold, for all of us.  We encourage you all to patronize the many great live music venues in our fine city to continue to heal through music.  We'll be there, so, we will see you out there.   "One good thing about music, when it hits, you feel no pain!" 🙂 -- Pete & Donna

MORE DETAILS

"Coffee House LIVE!" is a community outreach effort of St. Andrew's.  Everyone is welcome!

Several times throughout the year, we will "open" the coffee house for an evening to present live entertainment -- primarily various kinds of eclectic music from bands and/or solo artists, as well as perhaps other forms of entertainment, such as poetry, comedy, etc. We intend to host a variety of local, regional, national, and international artists.  Although this is a church outreach effort, all entertainment is completely secular (not religious-based).

We serve coffee and snacks.  You are also welcome to bring your own food & (non-alcoholic) drink, if desired.

The Warren Family Center (within St. Andrew's) is warmly intimate and acoustically balanced, allowing artists to connect with you -- the audience -- and showcase their talent. Tables and chairs are plentiful, and there is not a bad seat/view in the room.

There is never a cover charge to enter. However, donations (to help offset costs of artists and refreshments) are welcomed. These events are expected to last no longer than 90 minutes or so, providing you an "early evening" distraction.  All ages are welcome, including well behaved kids (and adults).  Children are to be accompanied by an adult.  Please supervise your kiddos, and keep in mind that this is a "listener-focused" room.

At these events, you will also have an opportunity to learn more about St. Andrew's, if you so desire.

Seating is 1st come / 1st served, with doors opening 30 minutes prior to the show.

WHAT SETS US APART

  • Alternative listening venue (family friendly)
  • Intimate concert experience
  • Artists connect with the audience
  • Artist meet n' greet possible
  • Casual, relaxed, and no $ required

OTHER "RULES" AND REQUESTS

We expect that, for most shows, you may photograph and/or record in a limited fashion, as long as it is not disruptive to the patrons or talent.  Some artists MAY impose restrictions on recording/photography -- these details will be posted for each show accordingly.
